Akers always uses the latest trenchless technology to replace your existing water lines, ensuring clean water for many years to come.

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a non-invasive, trenchless, method of installing your water line. This method is used for long distance and difficult bores whereas other conventional methods would be nearly impossible.

Horizontal Directional Drill

We start by digging an entry pit where our drill head can be inserted and an exit pit where the bore will end up. Then, we proceed with drilling underground and then pulling back your new water service line.

Constant Tension Pipe Splitting

Our constant tension pipe slitting is a non-invasive, environmentally responsible, trenchless method for replacing plastic service lines. The existing waterline is exposed at the water meter and at the house foundation. Then, a cable is inserted through the old pipe. After that, the “slitter” is installed and we pull the new pipe through the old existing plastic pipe.

Underground Piercing Tools

The most common and versatile method we offer is underground piercing tools. This method utilizes compressed air to create a bore path underground until it reaches the small receiving pit. The piercing tool is then reversed back out. Once the piercing tool is completely out, the new utility line is inserted through the round tunnel.
